iPhone 17 rumors are making their rounds.
SHARE

The iPhone 16 hasn’t even hit the shelves yet, let alone made an appearance in the real world, but, of course, rumors about the iPhone 17 are already swirling, and we love it! Expected to be released in the second half of 2025, the iPhone 17 promises to bring exciting new features. Notably, Apple might introduce an iPhone Slim model, potentially phasing out the Plus version. Here’s what we know about this upcoming phone so far.

iPhone 17 Rumored Display Size and Design

For the 2025 iPhone lineup, Ross Young, a display analyst, predicts that Apple will feature a pill-shaped cutout on all models, including both the regular and Pro versions. Initially, he reported that under-panel Face ID technology would be available on the Pro models, but he now claims that this feature has been delayed until the iPhone 18.

The regular iPhone 17 models will finally feature Always-On Display and ProMotion technology. Analyst Ross Young expects Apple to include a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide display across all 2025 models.

Additionally, each iPhone 17 is anticipated to maintain the same display sizes as the previous generation, with the smaller versions measuring 6.3 inches and the iPhone 17 Pro Max at 6.9 inches. While a Plus version is not expected, there are rumors about the introduction of an iPhone Slim.

iPhone 17 Rumored Cameras

With the iPhone 17 Pro lineup, Apple will finally introduce a 48MP lens across all primary cameras. While the iPhone 16 Pro was rumored to feature a 48MP ultra-wide lens, the iPhone 17 Pro will also include this resolution for the telephoto lens. Additionally, the Pro Max will come with an upgraded tetra prism zoom camera.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo outlines Apple’s plans for upgrading the tetra prism zoom feature in the coming years, with 2025 expected to bring significant changes. Apple aims to upgrade from the current 12-megapixel zoom sensor to a 48-megapixel tetra prism lens next year. However, it remains uncertain whether this new zoom camera will be available on all Pro models.

Additionally, The Information reports that Apple is planning to introduce a mechanical aperture for the iPhone Pro models. This feature would allow users to manually create a shallow depth-of-field effect in their photos. Currently, Apple uses software to generate a bokeh effect through Portrait Mode.

iPhone 17 Slim Rumors

iPhone 17 Slim concept

Since Apple launched the iPhone 12 mini, it has struggled to find a market for its unique iPhone variations. Sales for the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone 15 Plus have been low. While the iPhone 16 Plus is expected this year, Apple may take a different approach with the iPhone 17.

Rumors suggest that a premium version called the iPhone 17 Slim, might be priced around $1,299, making it the most expensive iPhone yet. Despite being ultra-thin, the iPhone 17 Slim is expected to have the A19 chip, 8 GB of RAM, and two main cameras.

On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to come with 12 GB of RAM, the A19 Pro chip using TSMC’s new N3P manufacturing process, and three 48MP main cameras. This raises the question: how can Apple charge more for an iPhone with fewer features than the Pro models? The reason is the new ultrathin design that Apple is planning for this model.

A19 Processor Rumored to be Powering the iPhone 17

Apple’s next-generation A19 family of chips will power the iPhone 17 lineup, following the company’s familiar trend. According to The Information, Apple is developing two new processors: the A19 and the A19 Pro. The A19 Pro will incorporate cutting-edge TSMC technology for enhanced efficiency, and both chips are expected to utilize the 3nm manufacturing process.

According to The Information, Apple is developing the new A19 and the A19 Pro chips.

While it’s still unclear just how much faster these processors will be, Apple is likely prioritizing the Neural Engine cores. This focus hints at exciting advancements in Apple Intelligence features, promising users a smarter and more responsive experience. As we look forward to the iPhone 17, the A19 processor is shaping up to be a game-changer in mobile technology.

Storage Options and Price

As we wait for more information on the storage capacity of the iPhone 16, rumors suggest that Apple may introduce a 2TB storage option for the iPhone Pro models, beginning with the iPhone 17. If these rumors are accurate, we could see the following storage options for the iPhone 17:

  • iPhone 17: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB
  • iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB

This new addition would give users more space for their apps, photos, and videos.

iOS 19 and Apple Intelligence

So far, Apple has begun developing iOS 19, codenamed “Luck.” While the specific features of this upcoming operating system remain unclear, it’s evident that Apple Intelligence will continue to play a significant role in its evolution.

By 2025, we can expect an all-new Siri capable of understanding context better than ever before. iOS 18 is also set to introduce several exciting features that will likely be available on the iPhone 17 models.

Among these features are the Writing Tools, which will allow users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text across various apps like Mail and Notes. The Image Playground will enable users to create playful images quickly, offering options for Animation, Illustration, or Sketch, and it will be integrated into apps such as Messages.

Additionally, the Memories in Photos feature will let users craft personalized stories simply by typing a description, as Apple Intelligence selects the best photos and videos to create a cohesive narrative. The Clean Up Tool in the Photos app will further enhance the user experience by removing distracting background objects without altering the main subject.

Moreover, Siri will offer more flexibility, allowing users to communicate through both typing and voice commands. For those moments when Apple Intelligence may fall short, integration with ChatGPT will provide users access to enhanced Writing Tools and responses. These upcoming features demonstrate Apple’s commitment to making iOS more intuitive and user-friendly, ultimately enriching the overall experience for iPhone users.
