Well, this is not the movie news that I expected. According to Variety, Apple has decided not to move forward with a sequel to Wolfs, just three months after signing a deal with director Jon Watts to develop it.
In a recent interview with Collider, Watts confirmed the news when asked about his next project. “I don’t know what I’m directing next, and I don’t think there’s going to be a Wolfs sequel,” he said.
Wolfs was initially set for release, but Apple changed its plans in August, opting for a one-week run in theaters before launching the movie on Apple TV+ on September 27. Doing this raised eyebrows, especially since Clooney had previously shared that he and Pitt took pay cuts to ensure the movie hit theaters.
Despite the changes, Apple announced Wolfs was its most-watched movie ever on the platform. Strange.
The film stars Pitt and Clooney as rival fixers in the criminal underworld. While it seemed to perform well, its success doesn’t appear to have been enough to warrant a sequel.
