Google has just launched its Gemini AI as a standalone app for iPhone. Released widely on Wednesday, the app was initially spotted in some regions earlier in the week.
Unlike using Gemini through Google’s main app on iOS, this standalone version skips extra features and focuses directly on Gemini. You can ask questions by typing or speaking and even attach photos to your query.
One unique feature is Gemini Live, which turns the AI into a more interactive, conversational assistant—something not available in Google’s main app, making it a big reason to download the standalone version.
The app is free to download from Apple’s App Store, but it does have in-app purchases. For $18.99 per month, you can upgrade to Gemini Advanced as part of Google’s One AI premium plan, which offers a more advanced AI model, integration with Gmail and Docs, and faster access to new features.
