In iOS 18, currently in beta, Apple has added more iPhone Home Screen customization options. Now, you can make app icons and widgets larger by hiding their labels. This feature is great for anyone who likes a clean and simple Home Screen.
When this setting is enabled, app names disappear from the grid, allowing icons and widgets to expand, creating a cleaner, more visually appealing Home Screen. Even with larger icons, you’ll still have up to six rows of four icons each, just like when the names are visible.
If you know your apps by their icons and don’t need the names, you’ll enjoy the larger, easier-to-see icons. This feature is also helpful for people with visual impairments who need bigger icons and for those who love customizing their iPhone’s look. Overall, it’s a useful option for anyone who wants a more organized and personalized Home Screen.
Here’s how to enable this feature:
- Press and hold an empty space on your Home Screen to enter jiggle mode.
- Tap the Edit button at the top-left corner, then select Customize.
- In the customization panel, tap the Large option.
- Tap an empty space to exit the customization panel.
How to See App Labels Again on the Home Screen
If you want to see app labels again, follow the same steps but choose the Small option in the customization panel. iOS 18 is currently in public beta and will be officially released to iPhone users this fall.
