According to Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, Apple is urging its display panel suppliers to ramp up investments in laptop-sized OLED displays. This move aligns with Apple’s plans to launch its first MacBook Pro models with OLED screens between 2026 and 2027.
LG and Samsung are expected to be the primary suppliers for these next-gen displays. Compared to the current mini-LED MacBook Pro models, OLED technology promises benefits like higher brightness, deeper blacks, improved power efficiency, and thinner designs.
Rumors suggest these slimmer MacBook Pro models with OLED displays could debut as early as 2026. Until then, no major design changes are expected. The MacBook Pro lineup will likely see only incremental updates in 2025, featuring M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chips.
