Apple is gearing up for another major launch event on October 28, 2024, focusing on new computing devices. Apple’s SVP of Marketing, Greg Joswiak, teased the event on social media, hinting at several exciting announcements. The most anticipated reveal is the next-generation Mac lineup, powered by the new M4 processors.
According to Bloomberg, Apple will introduce refreshed iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini models, all featuring the M4 chip. While the MacBook Pro’s design remains the same, the key upgrade lies in the boosted performance from the M4’s improved CPU and GPU clusters. This chip has already debuted in the iPad Pro, with more powerful variants expected in 2025 for the iMac Pro, Mac Studio, and MacBook Air.
One of the most significant changes is expected for the Mac mini. The new version, with an M4 chip, will feature a smaller, sleeker design, similar to the Apple TV. Functionally, it’s rumored to include three USB Type-C ports and a redesigned power system. Apple is likely to offer both M4 and M4 Pro configurations without increasing the price from the current model.
After the launch of the updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini, Apple is expected to roll out high-end machines like the Mac Pro and Mac Studio. These devices will feature ray-tracing capabilities and an enhanced Neural Engine for AI tasks. In 2025, Apple may also introduce a new iPhone SE, an updated iPad Air, and an entry-level iPad.
