Last month, YouTube introduced several new features. Following updates to the mini player and settings, YouTube is now enhancing playback speed controls on its Android and iOS apps.
Previously, the playback speed menu opened as a tall list that took up a large part of the screen, showing options like 0.25x, 0.5x, 0.75x, and up to 2x. Now, the controls are shorter, located at the bottom of the screen, and easier to access. The row includes five preset speeds: 0.25x, 1.0x, 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2.0x.
The main update is a slider that allows adjustments in 0.5x increments, with plus and minus buttons for fine-tuning. This redesigned playback feature is available as a server-side update on Android version 19.43 and iOS version 19.44.
