If you missed it, Flappy Bird is back in the news today. According to flappybird.org, The Official Flappy Bird is returning to your phone.
The game will launch on iOS and Android with new characters, including Trixy, a three-eyed bird, Peng the penguin, Quirky, a horned bird, and Tekno, a robot bird, alongside the classic gameplay.
The original Flappy Bird, a side-scroller where you guide a bird through pipes, was created by Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen in just a few days. However, Nguyen is not involved in this sequel.
At its peak, Flappy Bird earned $50,000 per week from ads, and iPhones with the game installed were sold for high prices. Reportedly, the game was pulled from the App Store years ago due to concerns about its addictive nature.
As IGN reports, the Flappy Bird Foundation Group now owns the rights to the game and plans to relaunch it in 2025.
