A recent report by ETNews reveals Samsung’s innovative approach to OLED panels. Their “M” series represents panels designed for top-of-the-line smartphones, with the latest “M14” using a revolutionary 14-material composition. Its advanced construction is said to significantly improve the brightness and lifespan of your phone’s display.
Samsung is gearing up for mass production of its new M14 displays in the latter half of 2024. These high-performance panels will be exclusive to Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro models, and the only other devices confirmed to leverage them are Google’s entire Pixel 9 lineup (all three models).
Rumors suggest all iPhone 16 models might adopt a new micro-lens OLED display technology for improved brightness and better battery life. While it’s unclear if this is specifically tied to Samsung’s M14 panels, the technology promises significant advancements.
In terms of display size, reports suggest the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will see a slight increase compared to iPhone 15 Pro models. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a 6.27-inch display (rounded to 6.3 inches), while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to sport a 6.85-inch display (rounded to 6.9 inches).
Continuing the trend of past years, Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 16 series sometime in September. More to come as we get closer to September.
