Apple has informed Patreon that it must use Apple’s in-app purchase system for subscriptions, which could raise membership prices by up to 30%. Last year, Apple told Patreon it had to implement Apple’s billing system for specific digital purchases, which started in 2024. Now, this requirement will extend to Patreon subscriptions, potentially affecting both subscribers and creators.
Starting in November, Apple’s 30% fee will apply to all new subscriptions made through the iPhone app, but existing subscriptions will not be affected.
