Apple is set to introduce a new physical button with the upcoming iPhone 16 series: a dedicated camera control button. Inspired by DSLR cameras, this new button is designed to give users more precise control over their photography and videography. Positioned on the right side of the device, the button functions as a versatile tool for capturing content. A light press initiates autofocus, while a firmer press captures the image or video, making it easier to snap the perfect shot.

But that’s not all—this camera control button goes beyond basic functions. Users can zoom in and out simply by swiping along the button, much like how you adjust the volume on AirPods Pro. This added functionality makes the camera experience more intuitive, allowing for smoother transitions and finer control over your shots.

Additionally, while the non-Pro versions of the iPhone 16 will include the Action button from last year’s higher-end models, Apple is also rolling out a more customizable Control Center and adjustable Lock Screen options with iOS 18. These new features could potentially shift the focus away from the Action button, but the new camera control button stands out as a significant enhancement to the iPhone’s camera system, promising a more user-friendly and powerful tool for capturing moments.
