Unlike the iPhone 15 Pro lineup with its different telephoto lenses, a new report suggests the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will offer a uniform 5x zoom on both models. With rumors of slightly larger iPhone 16 Pro models, the door might be open for the rumored 5x zoom on both.

Credit to Forbes Senior Editor David Phelan, who inquired with Apple about the iPhone 15 Pro’s zoom disparity, revealing a space limitation. With rumors of slightly larger iPhone 16 Pro models, the door might be open for the rumored 5x zoom on both.

With the rumored slight size increase for the iPhone 16 Pro models (matching current sizes), a uniform 5x zoom across both Pro variants could be possible.

A new DigiTimes report suggests Apple will capitalize on the size increase by equipping more iPhone 16 models with periscope lenses. The report claims Largan, last year’s supplier for the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s periscope lens, will continue to be involved, with GSEO potentially joining as a new supplier.

Including the 5x zoom on both Pro models makes perfect sense. It’s a popular feature, and many iPhone 15 Pro users likely desired it but balked at the cumbersome size (and price) of the Pro Max. Camera disparity isn’t new for larger iPhones, but offering a uniform 5x zoom across both models seems like the smarter move, and it appears Apple agrees.
