Apple plans to boost iPhone 16 production by 10% this year, targeting 90 million units in anticipation of strong sales. To achieve this, the company has ramped up efforts with its main manufacturing partner, Foxconn, in Zhengzhou, China. The world’s largest iPhone factory is now operating at full capacity, adding 50,000 workers in the past two weeks.

Foxconn’s Zhengzhou facility, which handles about 80% of Apple’s iPhone production, is crucial to the company’s global supply chain. With peak production season from August to December, Foxconn’s hiring surge is essential to meeting the increased demand.

Local reports indicate that Foxconn has raised wages and bonuses to attract more workers. As of August, it offered up to 25 yuan per hour and increased hiring bonuses from 6,000 yuan to 7,500 yuan.

Apple is also planning to expand iPhone production in India with the iPhone 16 lineup, expected to launch next month.
