The iPhone 17 series has reportedly been such a massive success for Apple that the company is “celebrating with champagne.” But for those waiting for a major visual overhaul with the iPhone 18 Pro, new reports suggest you may want to temper your expectations.

According to the leaker “Fixed Focus Digital” on Weibo, the iPhone 18 Pro will not see “visible changes as large as everyone thought.” Instead, Apple appears to be sticking with the current design language while focusing its innovation under the hood.

The A20 Pro: The Star of the Show

While the exterior may look familiar, the internals are a different story. The leaker claims the A20 and A20 Pro processors will be the most significant part of the update.

Built on a cutting-edge 2nm process, these chips are expected to offer massive gains in efficiency and AI performance—a necessity as “Apple Intelligence” continues to expand.

A Split Launch Strategy for 2026

Perhaps the most interesting part of the current rumor mill is a shift in how Apple releases its phones. Rumors suggest a split launch in 2026–September 2026 and Spring 2027

  • Sept 2026: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the highly anticipated iPhone Fold.
  • Spring 2027: The standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e.

This strategy would allow Apple to focus entirely on its most expensive, “Pro” level devices and its first-ever foldable during the holiday rush.

What Else is Changing?

Despite the “no change” design rumors, other leaks suggest we could still see some refinements. Some sources claim the Face ID sensors will finally move under the glass, leading to a much smaller Dynamic Island.

Apple may drop the “two-tone” look of the current models in favor of a more seamless, single-color glass back. Another expectation is a long-requested camera upgrade that would give photographers more control over depth of field.

While it’s true that Apple designs these phones years in advance, the success of the iPhone 17 could prompt them to “trickle down” high-end features—like vapor chamber cooling—to more models sooner than originally planned.
