It seems that Apple may finally be working on bringing Face ID to its MacBook lineup, thanks to a potential leak from the Apple Store app. A recent image displayed on the app showed a Face ID icon on a MacBook Pro, sparking speculation that the feature could be on its way. While Apple introduced a notched display on the MacBook Pro in 2021, it hasn’t yet included Face ID, unlike its iPhone counterparts.

Why hasn’t Face ID come to Macs yet?

According to sources, Touch ID has been considered more convenient for MacBook users because it’s located near the power button, making it easy to access when turning the device on. However, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of Face ID arriving soon.

Apple has been testing Face ID for MacBooks, and the company’s long-term goal may be to introduce this feature as it continues to enhance its Mac lineup.

While the Face ID illustration could be a simple design oversight, there’s also speculation that the designer might have inside knowledge of future MacBooks, possibly the upcoming M4 MacBook Pro, expected to be released in late 2024.

If Face ID does make its way to MacBooks, it would be a major upgrade in terms of both security and convenience, allowing users to log in without needing to touch their devices.

The Face ID system would bring the same level of biometric security to Macs that iPhone and iPad users have enjoyed for years, which would especially benefit users looking for a quick and secure way to access their devices or approve payments. While we don’t have a confirmed release date for this feature, it’s clear that Apple is working on making it a reality.

For now, it’s a waiting game to see if Face ID will be part of Apple’s future MacBook Pro or iMac models. If so, it could potentially enhance the security and usability of these devices.
