Apple has discontinued the Mac Pro, confirming to 9to5Mac on Thursday, March 26, 2026, that it has no plans to release future Mac Pro hardware. The device has since been removed from Apple’s website, with its purchase page now redirecting to the main Mac homepage.
The current Mac Pro, which starts at $6,999, was last updated in June 2023 with the M2 Ultra chip. Apple has not released a new model since, and the machine has remained on sale largely unchanged for nearly three years.
With the Mac Pro gone, Apple’s desktop lineup now consists of three machines: the iMac with M4, the Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro, and the Mac Studio with M3 Ultra.

The Mac Studio is now Apple’s primary pro desktop. Updated last year with the M3 Ultra chip, it matches or exceeds the performance most Mac Pro users needed, with an M5 Ultra refresh expected later in 2026. Features like Thunderbolt 5 connectivity and low-latency networking support scalable workflows across multiple machines, makes the transition from Mac Pro less surprising.
For professional users, the end of the Mac Pro marks a clear shift in Apple’s strategy. Rather than maintaining a modular tower, Apple is focusing on compact, high-performance systems powered by Apple silicon.
