Apple is changing the way you shoot videos and listen to music. Recently, Apple added a feature in iOS 18 that improves video shooting. Before this update, if you launched a video, the camera would automatically stop any audio you played.
If you wanted to get around this, the workaround was to long-press the shutter in photo mode to record video without interrupting the music, resulting in lower-quality video.
With iOS 18, you can now shoot video without stopping your music, podcast, or other audio. This feature works with or without AirPods. The only challenge is remembering that you can now shoot video and play music simultaneously.
This is a win if you want to stay in a flow state and not be distracted too much. We can see this benefiting users who like browsing social media while trying to stay active in the gym or a study session. This could potentially evolve into something much more down the line. Apple is always trying to find ways for users to collaborate professionally and spend time with loved ones.
