According to display analyst Ross Young on X (formerly Twitter), M4 chips for the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are reportedly being shipped in August as Apple prepares for an exciting upcoming fourth quarter.

MacRumors reports that these MacBook Pro models will feature M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips. The base 14-inch model is expected to come with the standard M4, while the higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch models will include the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.

These upgraded chips, first introduced in the iPad Pro in May, are built on TSMC’s 3-nanometer process, offering better performance and efficiency and a more powerful Neural Engine for AI tasks.

No major redesign is expected for the MacBook Pro, but Apple is rumored to release a revamped Mac mini alongside these models. The new Mac mini may have a smaller footprint, possibly becoming Apple’s smallest computer yet, with a size similar to the Apple TV but slightly taller.

New iPhone and Apple Watch models are expected at Apple’s September event. The new Macs might be revealed in a second event in October or November or via a press release. Apple is also set to update the MacBook Air, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio with M4 chips, but these updates are likely coming in 2025.
